Musician, composer and producer, Cornel Ilie is one of the most appreciated and long-lived artists in Romania. He is a founding member and lead singer of one of the most beloved pop-rock bands, VUNK. Tracks like Prăjitura cu Jeleu, Vreau o țară ca afară, Așa, și? or Pleacă quickly reached people’s hearts and occupied the first positions in the Romanian music charts.
In 2018, the band VUNK became the protagonist of the first documentary about a Romanian band – I swear to tell the truth. Using technology, spectacular shows and songs with a deep message, VUNK continues its vision to connect people and bring them joy, confidence and hope. Over time, Cornel has also composed film music, and currently plays the role of Sam in the musical show Mamma Mia. In addition to his artistic career, Cornel Ilie is constantly involved in numerous actions with social impact and supports various humanitarian projects. In 2019, Cornel released his first book, an autobiographical volume in an anniversary moment: DEJA VU. 25 years of VUNK.
