Ștefan Adrian Bejenaru (ADDI) (DJ & Co-Founder, Shockwave, OWPN Academy)

Hello everyone, my name is Addi and I’m a DJ, producer and founder of Shockwave, an event created to support local talent across Romania. Besides that, I am co-founder of OWPN Academy, a project that focuses on the development of artists in the electronic scene both professionally and emotionally through workshops, events and camps.

Q: How does the music industry look like to you in 2024?

A: Very hectic, but in a good way. I see a lot of diversity, new projects and ideas that are covering more genres and include more people in the scene.

Q: What are the main challenges that a young person faces when starting out in the current music industry (in Romania)?

A: The lack of a healthy environment for young artists is the main issue in my opinion, because there is not a lot of financial support and reward so it gets really tough for people in the beginning of their careers to keep working on their dream.

Q: What is the professional achievement of which you are most proud?

A: Playing on the Mainstage during the 2022 edition of Neversea Festival has to be up there for me.

Q: How does the future of the music industry (in Romania) look like to you?

A: We’re learning. We are testing new things left, right and center and we will keep developing. It can get a lot better from here and we’re making important moves in the right direction.

Q: How did you break into the music industry?

A: Getting the chance to play along Partydul KissFM has been the point that changed things for me and ever since I kept on growing all around.

Q: What piece of advice would you give to a young person dreaming of working in the music industry?

A: Network with people, online and offline. Put your face out there in a way you’re comfortable with, find your way of telling your story and keep at it. You need people around you as much as they need you.
