Alexandru Chira has worked in the tourism and events industry for more than 13 years. As the general manager of Visit Oradea, that he took over in 2020, a public entity NGO reporting to the Oradea City Council, he is overseeing drafting and implementing the yearly cultural agenda, ranging from boutique jazz festival events to large complex projects up to 50.000 participants/day. Only in 2022 and 2023 Visit Oradea organized and hosted more than 500.000 participants in over 35 yearly events and +700.000 in 2024 alone. Alex is only in charge in finding the most efficient way to use the public funds for organizing local events, budgets ranging from 1.5M euros to 3.2M euros.
Creating appealing events architecture and reaching a larger audience for public events is no easy task. Under his mandate, Visit Oradea has welcomed artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Jose Carreras, Angela Gheorghiu, Richard Clayderman and the majority of the most well-known Romanian artists. From sky to water spectacles, to video mapping and drone shows, Visit Oradea has seen it all.
Promoting and branding all these events is also an important task especially when working with public funds. Implementing correctly the local tourism brand but also the one for every large event is a complex endeavor for a small-scale team.
