For over two decades, Cătălin has quietly shaped some of the most successful international careers to emerge from the Romanian music scene. From early 2000s dance-pop exports like Akcent, Morandi, and Fly Project to breakout stars such as INNA and Antonia, his work behind the scenes helped bring a distinctly Romanian sound to audiences across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Cătălin began his career in radio, then joined the independent label Roton, where he led international licensing efforts just as Romanian pop began turning global heads. He helped position local artists for success far beyond home turf, building bridges with major labels and dance imprints around the world. In 2011, he moved into the major-label world as Label Manager for Warner Music’s local partner, working across both global campaigns and regional signings.
Today, as A&R Creative Manager at Universal Music Romania and Astralwerks East, Cătălin continues to focus on long-term artist development. Recent work includes guiding the international growth of emerging acts like Francis On My Mind and Fantomel, both part of a new wave blending electronic pop, authenticity, and global ambition.
Alongside his label work, he curates NeMO – New Music Oasis at Romanian Creative Week, a space dedicated to discovery, collaboration, and redefining what it means to break through as a young artist today.
Cătălin’s approach is patient, collaborative, and always artist-first—rooted in the belief that good music travels, and great talent deserves the chance to.
