Percussionist & Cultural Manager

Philip Goron is a Romanian percussionist and drummer whose work brings together classical music, contemporary jazz and world music. He graduated from the National University of Music Bucharest, completed the Young Masters programme at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), and holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Composition from UNMB. His distinctions include the Yamaha Scholarship for Percussion and the UNMB Excellence Scholarship.

He has collaborated with ensembles such as the George Enescu Philharmonic, the Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra, the Romanian Radio Big Band and the Romanian Film Orchestra. In 2023, he appeared as a soloist with conductor Tiberiu Soare and the Romanian Film Orchestra at the Transilvania International Film Festival. He is also active in jazz and world music projects, including Amphitrio, the Luiza Zan Quintet and the Răzvan Florescu Quintet.

His work has received several awards, including Album of the Year at the Radio România Cultural Awards for Amphitrio’s Timelines, First Prize at the JazzBook Jazz Competition and Best Composition at the Jazz in the Park Competition. He has performed at festivals across Europe and beyond, including Gărâna Jazz Festival, Baku Jazz Festival, Untold, Electric Castle and Jazz in the Park.

Beyond his performing career, Philip develops interdisciplinary cultural projects such as What Freedom Sounds Like, In My Village Symphonic, Cine-Concert Days and New Voices of the Big Band. Since 2025, he has been an official SONOR artist.
