Philip Goron is a young percussionist and composer with strong academic training and a versatile career that blends classical music, jazz, and world music in a creative way. A graduate of the National University of Music Bucharest and the Young Masters program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), he has received prestigious awards including the Yamaha Scholarship for Percussion and the Excellence Scholarship from UNMB.
He has performed with leading orchestras such as the George Enescu Philharmonic and Opera Comică pentru Copii, while also being active in jazz and world music projects like Mădălina Pavăl Orchestra, Amphitrio, Luiza Zan Quintet, and Răzvan Florescu Quintet. Beyond performance, he is involved in cultural management through projects such as What Freedom Sounds Like and the international Amphitrio tour.
His work has been recognized with multiple awards, including Album of the Year (Timelines – Amphitrio) at Radio România Cultural, 1st Prize at Jazzbook, and Best Composition at Jazz in the Park. He has appeared at major festivals including Untold, Neversea, Electric Castle, Jazz in the Park, Gărâna Jazz, and Baku Jazz Festival, and contributed to numerous albums, among them Film Noir, Points, Seasons (Amphitrio), Roiesc (Mădălina Pavăl Orchestra), In My Village (Luiza Zan – nominated for Radio România Cultural Awards), and Shapes (RVQ).
Currently pursuing a Master’s in Jazz Composition at UNMB, he also leads Wooden Echoes, a classical percussion ensemble, and has appeared as soloist with Tiberiu Soare and the Romanian Film Orchestra at TIFF 2023, as well as opening for Korn at ARTMANIA. In 2025, he became an Official Sonor Artist, a testament to his innovation and excellence as a musician.
