George has been active in the music industry for 5 years, supporting music and artists in their musical journey.
Q: How does the music industry look like to you in 2024?
A: The music industry in Romania is significantly developing every year. I feel that we are starting to have our own identity and I believe that means a lot. In the past year, I have begun to learn more about the process of creating an album and I see how the quality standards are rising, how emphasis is placed on details, and how much work an artist and their team put in so that we can enjoy the music.
Q: What are the main challenges that a young person faces when starting out in the current music industry (in Romania)?
A: Probably one of them would be the lack of mentorship and guidance. I have had moments when I felt this, and I believe that networking is also a big challenge in the beginning.
Q: What is the professional achievement of which you are most proud?
A: In the first part of this year, together with my friend Horea, we started a series of musical listening sessions where the invited artist tells the story of their album and some cool insights. I think it is the coolest experience I have managed to create, quite unique for both the participants and the artist. You should check out @MufaRoom.
Q: How does the future of the music industry (in Romania) look like to you?
A: It would be hard for me to give it a shape; I try to stay as much as possible in the present. However, I believe that if we do everything we can to have a healthy and beautiful industry now, we won’t have to worry too much about what it will be like in the future.
Q: How did you break into the music industry?
A: I said yes when I saw the opportunity. In 2019, the team I was part of needed someone to handle artist bookings, and that’s when I said I wanted to do it, I wanted to learn. I started with local DJs, and it was really nice.
Q: What piece of advice would you give to a young person dreaming of working in the music industry?
A: Try to do as many things as possible in this direction, ask for advice, make your way among people, and listen as much as you can. Seriousness and discipline help you form a solid foundation, and this way you can more easily build what you want.
